TOP 75 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE IN THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY OF KAZAKHSTAN
The Union of Oil Service Companies of Kazakhstan “ KazService ” presented the annual ranking of the TOP 75 most influential persons in the oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan. This year the ranking is published for the eighth time. Given the enormous contribution of the oil and gas industry to the country's economy, it was decided to increase the list to 75 people in order to cover a wider range of significant figures.
The rating is based on opinions and assessments received from leading experts and representatives of the domestic oil and gas industry. Evaluation criteria include the degree of influence of the candidate on legislative initiatives and legal regulation of the industry, the market value of the company, its share in the oil production market, the amount of taxes paid, and the number of qualified employees. The social and economic importance of companies in the oil and gas sector also plays an important role.
1) Almasadam Satkaliev.
The eighth annual ranking of the TOP 75 most influential people in the oil and gas sector of Kazakhstan was headed by Almasadam Satkaliev. He was reappointed as Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the beginning of the year.
Almasadam Maidanovich actively participated in OPEC+ meetings, working to maintain the special status of Kazakh oil in the context of global sanctions.
Under his leadership, agreements were signed with Qatari investors worth more than $11 billion in the oil and gas sector of Kazakhstan.
2) Askhat Khasenov.
In May 2024, Askhat Khasenov was appointed Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas, within which, from the first days, he actively began to visit all facilities of the national company .
He played a key role in developing and implementing new strategies to improve the company's efficiency and sustainability while working for the Ministry of Energy. Khasenov also paid attention to the development of new technologies and innovative solutions in the field of oilfield services, which contributed to strengthening the company’s position in the market and improving its competitiveness.
3) Timur Kulibaev.

Timur Kulibayev is still the beneficiary of a dozen companies in the oil and gas business, which includes oil and gas production, oil services and oil and gas engineering, which employ more than 10,000 people.
4) Becket Izbastin.
The Authority headed by him, represented by PSA LLP, on behalf of the state, monitors and optimizes costs at the Kashagan, Karachaganak and Dunga field projects.
For example, for violations of procurement procedures at the fields of the Northern Caspian, PSA LLP submitted more than $16.5 billion in non-refundable costs from Kazakh oil to international arbitration courts.

5) Bolat Akchulakov.
On April 4, 2023, he was appointed Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Since January 2022, he has been the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During his short tenure as Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, he approved a roadmap for the development of Kazakhstan’s oil services.

6) Alibek Zhamauov.

8) Sanzhar Zharkeshev.
